“Cypriots in the City’’ is a network that was founded in 2002 by Phanos Theophanous and George Rologis who were at the time young professionals in London at the start of their careers. Their vision was to bring the Cypriot professional community, who worked in the City of London, together to network. The first meeting of Cypriots in the City took place in Lemonia in Primrose Hill and 35 Cypriots attended. At the time there were very few Cypriots working in London. Alexis Pantazis took over Cypriots in the City in 2007 and the initiative continued. Alexis, George and Phanos are all today on the Advisory Board of Cypriots in the City.
Post the accession of Cyprus to the EU more Cypriots started working in London and first generation Cypriot diaspora working in the City grew significantly. In 2024, Cypriot Engineers asked to join the Association and the ‘Cypriots in the City Association’ was renamed in December 2024 to “Cypriot Professionals Association” by Cypriots in the City. The first committee of the “Cypriot Professionals Association” was Phanos Theophanous, Antonis Themistokleous, Eugenie Papadopoulos, Charalambos Toumazis, Andrew Savvides, Panayiotis Joannides, Ioanna Solomonides and Petros Kkolas.
